Lasting Heritage

In those early years, our parents and grandparents quietly gave us something far more valuable than we realized at the time. Through long hours, busy dining rooms, and a lifetime of serving others, they instilled in us a work ethic, communication skills, hospitality, and a dedication to service that has carried through every generation and every establishment we have ever run. We didn't learn these things in a classroom — we learned them behind the counter, in the kitchen, and on the floor. Looking back now, it is clear just how rich our upbringing truly was.

Just as the Bible honors the generations that came before us — as written in Matthew 1:1, 'A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham' — tracing 42 generations of faith, purpose, and legacy, so too do we honor those who came before us in our own family. Each generation has passed down not only their recipes and their businesses, but their values, their faith, and their love for one another. We are proud to carry that torch forward, generation after generation.

While Jesus himself left no biological descendants, his earthly legacy was carried forward through his brothers — James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas — as recorded in Matthew 13:55-56. His brother James became one of the great leaders of the early Christian church in Jerusalem. But perhaps more powerfully, Jesus left behind a spiritual legacy that transcends bloodlines entirely. Through faith, every believer becomes part of God's eternal family — the greatest family tree ever known. It is in that same spirit that we honor our own family legacy, knowing that what we pass down in love, faith, and dedication is far greater than any name or surname.

Consider the remarkable mathematics of ancestry. In order for you to be born, you needed two parents, four grandparents, eight great grandparents, sixteen second great grandparents, thirty two third great grandparents, sixty four fourth great grandparents, one hundred twenty eight fifth great grandparents, two hundred fifty six sixth great grandparents, five hundred twelve seventh great grandparents, one thousand twenty four eighth great grandparents, two thousand forty eight ninth great grandparents, and four thousand ninety six tenth great grandparents. Go back just ten generations — roughly three hundred years — and over four thousand ancestors all had to live, meet, fall in love, and have children just for you to exist. Every single one of them matters. Every single one of them is part of your story. What a humbling and magnificent thought.

As we reflect on all that has been built and all that has been given, we are reminded to always be mindful and thankful for our spiritual blessings as we walk the path of life. To those who came before us, we are forever grateful. And to the generations yet to come — may you carry this legacy forward with the same love, dedication, and faith that built it. God bless the generations to come.
